The Best Air Fryer Jalapeno Poppers

Tips for making jalapeno poppers in the air fryer

Here are some of the most helpful tips for making delicious air fryer jalapeno poppers:

  • Jalapeño Selection: Choose firm and fresh jalapenos. They’re easier to handle and provide a better texture.
  • Spice Control: To reduce the heat, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapenos. Leaving them in makes the poppers spicier. Wear gloves while handling to avoid burning your hands.
  • Filling Fun: While cream cheese is a classic, don’t be afraid to experiment! Try shredded cheddar, goat cheese, feta, or even a combination for different flavor profiles.
  • Breading Options: Panko breadcrumbs are a popular choice for their light and crispy texture. However, you can also use crushed crackers, flour tortillas, or even coconut flakes for an interesting twist.

Air Fryer Jalapeño Poppers

These cheesy and crispy Air Fryer Jalapeño Poppers are filled with cream cheese and topped with crispy breadcrumbs.

  • Air Fryer
  • 5 medium jalapeños (fresh)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 2 tbsp green onions (chopped)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ⅛ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp butter (melted)
  1. Use gloves or extra care when slicing the jalapeños in half, lengthwise. Use a small spoon to scoop out all the seeds and membranes, to hallow-out the jalapeño halves. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl mix together the cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, green onions, garlic powder, salt and black pepper until fully combined. Spoon the mixture into the peppers, about 1 tbsp each pepper.
  3. In another small dish, combine the panko breadcrumbs and melted butter and mix to coat the crumbs evenly with the butter. Dip the cream cheese part of the pepper into the crumbs and coat evenly.
  4. Lay the peppers in the air fryer in an even layer and cook at 375 degrees F. for 5 to 8 minutes.*

*Air fryer times can vary based on the power of your air fryer. If your air fryer is preheated, the peppers will cook faster, so keep an eye on them.
OVEN INSTRUCTIONS – Prepare peppers according to instructions and then place on a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake in 425 degree F oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
