  2. Cornmeal: Cornmeal creates a crunchy texture and adds a slightly sweet flavor to the shrimp. It’s a great option if you want a gluten-free coating.
  3. Seasoned breadcrumbs: You can use pre-made seasoned breadcrumbs or make your own by mixing breadcrumbs with your favorite seasonings, such as garlic powder, paprika, or Italian herbs.

Regardless of the coating you choose, make sure to coat the shrimp evenly and shake off any excess before air frying them. This will help the coating adhere well and ensure that the shrimp cooks evenly.

You can prepare the shrimp by cleaning, deveining, and peeling them, then storing them in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to use.

You can also prepare the breadcrumb mixture ahead of time by mixing the panko breadcrumbs with the seasonings and storing the mixture in an airtight container at room temperature.

When you’re ready to cook the shrimp, you can coat them with the breadcrumb mixture and air fry them according to the recipe instructions.

It’s not recommended to cook the shrimp ahead of time and reheat them in the air fryer, as this can result in a loss of texture and flavor. The shrimp may become rubbery and the coating may not be as crispy.

  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce

Bang Bang Shrimp Batter

  • 1-2 lb jumbo shrimp shell off and deveined
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, add sauce ingredietns and whisk until everything is combined. Set aside.
  • Next, preheat AIR FRYER (this is the one I have and love using!) to 400F. Grease air fryer pan with a little bit of oil of your choice, I like to use avocado oil.
  • Working in batches, coat shrimp in cornstarch, after dip it in buttermilk and finally toss shrimp in bread crumbs.
  • Add shrimp to the air fryer pan (make sure shrimp is not touching each other), then cover and cook for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, flip shrimp on the other side and brush or spray a little bit of oil on the top, cover and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until shrimp is cooked thru and has crispy texture.
